Hey Neighbors 👋

The clocks fell back on Sunday, and it was dark by 5 on Monday, which means we are officially in the stretch of the year where you leave work in the dark and get home in the dark. I don’t love it, but there’s something about the first week of November in Green Bay that feels like the town exhales a little. Halloween is done, the leaves are mostly down, and everybody is quietly figuring out their Thanksgiving plans.

Last Friday I had the Brewers parade on in the background while I got stuff done around the house, and I’ll admit I stopped working for a while. Watching Yount and Molitor ride that same route 44 years later got me. My kids didn’t totally get why I cared, which is fair. They’ll get it someday.

Alright, let’s get into it.

Here’s the week.

📌 🐾 West football just ended a 30-year drought

Before 2024, Green Bay West went 3-82 over ten seasons. Drew Brusoe took over in 2022 with 27 kids on the roster. This fall, the Wildcats won six games and made the WIAA playoffs for the first time in 30 years, with a roster north of 50. Brusoe says it came down to standards and accountability, and the kids bought in. That’s a program, not a season.

📉 7.24%

Second straight weekly drop. Freddie Mac’s 30-year average fell to 7.24% for the week ending Oct 29, down from 7.32%, the lowest in over a month. A year ago it was about 6.2%. On a $300,000 loan, that’s roughly $2,040 a month at today’s rate versus about $1,840 a year ago. Still a tough market, but the direction finally flipped. New number drops Thursday around 11 AM.
