Happy almost-Fourth, neighbors

Here's the thing about this year: July 4th lands on a Saturday, and it's America's 250th birthday. That combo doesn't come around often. So whether you're a fireworks-and-flag person or a quiet-backyard-grill person, this is a weekend worth showing up for. We pulled together everything happening across Green Bay, De Pere, and Ashwaubenon so you can spend less time scrolling and more time celebrating.

πŸ“Œ β›΅ A historic tall ship is docking downtown

This is a cool one. The Utopia, a tall ship built in Wisconsin in 1946 from leftover WWII materials, is spending the whole holiday weekend at the Cherry Street Pier by City Deck. Free deck tours all three days, and it'll be sitting right alongside the ski show and fireworks on Saturday.

  • πŸ“… Fri July 3: arrives around noon, free tours noon to 2pm and 6 to 8:30pm

  • πŸ“… Sat July 4: free tours 2 to 8pm

  • πŸ“… Sun July 5: ticketed charter cruises at 10am and 2:30pm

  • πŸ“ Cherry Street Pier / City Deck

  • 🎟️ Deck tours free (donations support the Patriot Racing Project, which serves veterans through sailing). Charters ticketed

πŸ“Œ πŸŒ‰ The Nitschke Bridge is finally back

Good timing for the holiday. The city says the Main Street bridge, better known as the Ray Nitschke Memorial Bridge, reopens at the end of the day today after nearly a month closed for maintenance. It's been shut since June 4, and the date got pushed back a few times, so this one's been a long wait for downtown drivers. Bonus: it's one of the best spots for fireworks viewing on Saturday.

πŸ₯‘ Asian Taste Grocery

Somebody in the Green Bay Area Foodies group put Asian Taste on blast this week, in the best way. It's been quietly serving the area since 2006 and is a go-to for Asian groceries, from sauces and meats to snacks and pantry staples. There's a deli with hot food ready to go and a small spot to dine in.

First-timer picks from a regular: the Asian sausage, sweet pork, and egg fried noodles. Or go for the fried rice, deep-fried pork belly, and papaya salad.

πŸ” Al's is open all day on the 4th

A downtown institution since 1934, and they're rolling out the holiday hours. Open 10am to 9pm on the Fourth, plus a late-night walk-up window from 10pm to 2:30am for anyone still hungry after the fireworks. Classic griddle burgers, no frills.

πŸ₯¨ The Beer Dip Pretzel Kringle is BACK (today and tomorrow only)

Uncle Mike's dropped this thing on Kringle Day, and it sold out within hours. Now it's back for exactly two days: today (Thu July 2) and tomorrow (Fri July 3). It's a pretzel-style Kringle filled with creamy beer dip, and yes, that's as Wisconsin as it sounds. Pre-orders are open this time, so call ahead if you actually want one.

🐾 Local Spotlight: Woof n' Waggs

This one comes straight from a Buzz reader. Debbie wrote in raving about Woof n' Waggs on Packerland, where she takes her little deaf Frenchie, Ripley. Her words: spotless place, fantastic owner, and on-site staff 24/7, with pet safety as the top priority.

If you're traveling for the holiday and need a spot for the pup, they do daycare, boarding, and training, with a 94% recommend rating from locals.
