Hey Green Bay 👋

Fall’s sneaking up on us, isn’t it? 🍂 I swear, just yesterday it was cookouts and late sunsets, and now we’re talking football weekends, cooler evenings, and that first hint of leaves starting to turn.

Honestly, this is one of my favorite times of the year. There’s just something about the mix of cozy nights, community events, and the buzz around Lambeau that makes Green Bay feel extra alive. For me, it’s grabbing comfort food with the family, watching the kids run around at local events, and maybe sneaking in a bingo night or two (don’t judge 😅).

I hope as you flip through this week’s Buzz, you find something that makes you smile, gets you out into the community, or gives you one more reason to love where we live.

Here’s to good food, good people, and making the most of September.

Cheers.

Cool things. Cool people. Cool city. 😎

🧭 Let’s make it happen…

📰New Stories of the Week in Green Bay.

📌🏈 Businesses Gear Up for Lambeau Weekend

It’s game week in Titletown, and that means downtown Green Bay is buzzing. From sports bars to local shops, businesses are stocking up and staffing up for the Lambeau Field crowds.

🍻 Expect packed patios, special game-day menus, and plenty of green and gold everywhere you look.
🛍️ Local retailers are also bracing for the surge, ready to welcome fans hunting for last-minute gear and souvenirs.
🚗 Reminder: traffic around Lambeau will be heavier than usual. Plan if you’re heading into the area.

Whether you’re tailgating, bar-hopping, or just soaking in the atmosphere, it’s set to be one of those weekends that make Green Bay shine. 🌟

What’s your game-day good luck charm?

📌Nearly $160K Invested in Women & Girls Across Northeast WI💜

Here’s something to cheer about: 13 local nonprofits are getting a boost of $159,500 thanks to the Women’s Fund of Greater Green Bay.

✨ Where the money’s going: These grants will fuel programs that mentor young girls, expand childcare access, support survivors, empower women aging out of foster care, and uplift women and children experiencing homelessness. Other projects include leadership development for Indigenous women, cultural and educational programs for Black and Brown girls, and health initiatives for women of color.

🌱 Why it matters: This is more than funding; it’s an investment in stronger families, thriving communities, and brighter futures for women and girls across our region.

🙌 The Women’s Fund, part of the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation, gives out grants twice a year. This summer’s grant cycle was powered in part by community fundholders, who contributed over $75,000 to make it happen.

 📌9/11 Day of Service

This Thursday, flags across Wisconsin will fly at half-staff in remembrance of September 11. Gov. Tony Evers has also declared it a State Day of Service and Remembrance, calling on Wisconsinites to honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost with acts of kindness and community service.

💙 How you can take part:

  • Volunteer locally (find opportunities at Volunteer Wisconsin)

  • Do something kind for a neighbor

  • Take a quiet moment to reflect and remember

The spirit of 9/11 was one of unity. Let’s keep that alive here in Green Bay.

Green Bay Women’s Shelter Plans Expansion

St. John’s Ministries is looking to expand its women’s shelter from 58 to 70 beds and operate year-round instead of just November through April.

👉 Why it matters: Last winter, the shelter hit capacity more than a dozen times, turning to mats on the floor to keep women safe from the cold. With over 80 unsheltered people in Brown County, the need is growing.

📌 What’s next: The Green Bay Plan Commission has already approved the expansion request. The Common Council will vote next week on whether to move the project forward. If approved, St. John’s could start a pilot program in May 2026.
