Hello Green Bay! Autumn is softly making its way here, isn't it? One moment we’re still soaking up those warm summer nights, and the next we’re grabbing our sweatshirts and chatting about the Packers. This season truly feels special in this cozy corner of the world.
The air turns crisp, comfort foods become even more tempting, and you can feel a lively spirit across town, whether it’s a community gathering, a stroll through the market, or simply running into friendly faces.
For me, it’s a time to slow down, enjoy homemade comfort foods with loved ones, catch a game, and cherish these transitional days before winter arrives in full force. I hope as you explore this week's Buzz, you find something that brings a smile to your face or gives you one more reason to step out, connect, and enjoy everything our wonderful community has to offer.
Cheers!

📰New Stories of the Week in Green Bay.
📌 Festival Foods Sold
After nearly 80 years, Festival Foods, a Wisconsin family favorite, has been sold. St. Louis–based Schnuck Markets, another family-run grocery chain, will take over 42 Festival stores plus 9 Hometown Grocers locations across the state.
👉 What to know:
Stores will keep their Festival & Hometown names 🏷️
No closures planned & headquarters in Onalaska/Green Bay will remain open
Over 8,000 associates will join Schnucks’ family of 19,000 employees
Community traditions (like the Turkey Trot & local event sponsorships) are expected to continue
This marks the end of three generations of Skogen family ownership, but both families say the merger keeps the community-first values alive.
📌The Green Bay City Council has officially approved the Fire Station Flats project.
A major redevelopment on the former Badger Sheet Metal site.
🏘️ The project will bring:
85 affordable housing units (for households earning 30–80% AMI)
One commercial unit
A new fire station + administrative offices
This transformative project is part of the city’s push to eliminate blight, revitalize brownfields, and support both public safety and housing needs. Construction could begin as early as spring/summer 2026.
📌De Pere Launches “De Pere Aware”
Out with the old, in with the new. De Pere has rebranded its neighborhood watch program as De Pere Aware. 🚨
The initiative goes beyond crime prevention. It’s about neighbors staying connected, looking out for each other, and building stronger community ties. The city is rolling out new signs across neighborhoods and has also introduced Community Policing Officers who work flexible schedules to respond to local needs.
Residents say the program helps create a safer, friendlier place to live:
“The more powerful benefit we get is having the structure to stay in touch with each other,” said De Pere resident Scott Crevier.
Want to get involved? The city currently has about 20 neighborhood groups, and they’re open to starting more!

🤖 Robot Ultrasounds Coming to Wisconsin
Meet CODI, a collaborative medical robot with a flexible arm and camera “eyes” that can perform ultrasounds, guided remotely by a sonographer.
Prevea Health and TitletownTech are partnering with Canadian robotics company Cobionix to bring CODI to Wisconsin clinics.
Why it matters:
Could expand access to care in rural communities
Let’s patients get high-quality ultrasounds even if no sonographer is on-site
Expected to begin rolling out in Wisconsin next year
This is cutting-edge healthcare tech happening right here in Green Bay!
