Funny timing on this one. By the time this hits your inbox, half the town is already figuring out where to park near Lambeau. First home game of the year, on a Thursday, under the lights. There's something about that first walk up Lombardi in a hoodie when the air finally has a little bite to it. Doesn't matter how the season's going, that walk always feels the same.

Here's a number to sit with: nearly $17 billion is expected to change hands across northeast Wisconsin over the next ten years as one generation passes wealth to the next. Four community foundations, including our own Greater Green Bay Community Foundation, just launched a program called Give Forward with a simple ask. Set aside 5 percent of that for local causes. If people actually do it, that's more than $5.5 billion staying home to fund the nonprofits, parks, and programs around here for decades. Worth a conversation at the dinner table.

This is a big one for Suamico. On Tuesday night, the Howard-Suamico School District played its first home game in the Adapted Sports League, a program that lets students with physical, visual, and intellectual disabilities play real team sports with real uniforms and a real crowd. It's the first team of its kind in the Green Bay area. Eight athletes are on the roster, and another 15 students from the athlete leadership team show up to help run practices. The district heard about the league from schools in the Fox Valley last year, decided they had to bring it here, and a donor stepped up to cover the equipment. Floor hockey comes this winter, wiffle ball in the spring, and the goal for next year is a full Brown County league so more schools can join. As junior Ava Nagel put it, every athlete dreams of having the whole community behind them. These kids have it.

Quick one from City Hall. Wisconsin Stormwater Week runs through Sunday, Sept. 27, and the point is pretty simple: when it rains, everything sitting on the road goes straight into the bay, unfiltered. A few things the city is asking us to do at home, and most of them are five-minute habits:

This one's fun. Danny Treminio, who leads customer service at Seroogy's, pitched a horchata flavor for Hispanic Heritage Month and then helped build it batch by batch: a creamy white chocolate center with cinnamon, vanilla, and toasted rice, wrapped in white chocolate and dusted with cinnamon. He even hand-drew the wrapper art, featuring a Resplendent Quetzal as a nod to his Nicaraguan roots.

It's available through Día de los Muertos on Nov. 2, and sales benefit a local bilingual early childhood program.

Green Bay is getting an urban beach. Construction officially started Monday on the second phase of the Shipyard project along the Fox River, a $14.3 million build that adds new public space on the water, including the beach and other riverfront amenities. About half the money, $7.15 million, comes from a National Park Service grant. As the project manager put it at the groundbreaking, they're not making any more waterfront.

Quick shoutout to the guys for Sunday. The Packers were down 10 in the fourth quarter at MetLife, and somehow, with 14 penalties for 133 yards working against them, they still walked out with a 20 to 17 overtime win. Trey Smack drilled the game-winner, and Lukas Van Ness had the best game of his Packers career with nine tackles, a sack and a half, and four QB hits. That's the kind of win that makes the whole week better.
