📌 🏙️ Green Bay Approves 2050 Comprehensive Plan, but Hits Pause on Zoning Overhaul

The Green Bay City Council just approved its long-term development vision, the Go Big Green Bay 2050 Comprehensive Plan, mapping out what the city could look like over the next 25 years.

The plan touches everything from housing and transportation to business growth, with ideas like:
🚆 A partnership with Amtrak for future rail service to Green Bay
🚶 Filling sidewalk gaps citywide and expanding the Baird Creek Trail
🚤 Introducing a water taxi service
🏗️ Creating a new marina district and commercial hub on Algoma Road

🗳️ The final decision on zoning changes is expected at the next City Council meeting.

📌🛒 Festival Foods Joins the Schnucks Family

Big grocery news in Wisconsin, the deal is official!
Festival Foods and Hometown Grocers are now part of 1939 Group, Inc., the parent company of Schnuck Markets. The acquisition unites 51 Wisconsin stores under one umbrella, expanding Schnuck’s reach to 164 stores across four states and adding 8,000 new employees.

Before you panic, yes, Festival Foods will keep its name, stores, and hometown feel. 🧡
Todd Schnuck (Chairman & CEO of 1939 Group) will now lead Festival Foods following the departure of longtime president Mark Skogen.

🗣️ “Our top priority remains clear- keeping Festival Foods, Hometown Grocers, and Schnucks teammates focused on serving and delighting our guests,” said Schnuck.

📌🎣 Street Fishing World Championship Kicks Off in Green Bay

The 2025 Street Fishing World Championship officially launched in Green Bay with an opening ceremony celebrating anglers from 10 different countries. And more are competing along the Fox River and Green Bay waterways, marking a first-of-its-kind event in the U.S.!

This international competition combines urban fishing skill with conservation awareness, as participants fish from shorelines, bridges, and docks throughout downtown.

📍 Spectators can visit the Fox River shoreline and CityDeck to watch daily weigh-ins and see anglers in action.

🚧 Main Avenue & Reid Street Reconstruction Coming to De Pere

🗓️ Construction Begins: 2027

About 30 residents joined a public meeting this week to learn more about the major Main Avenue and Reid Street reconstruction project in De Pere.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation plans to:

  • Replace pavement and aging utilities

  • Improve railroad crossing safety

  • Make curb ramps pedestrian accessible
