Hey there,
Valentine's Day is Saturday, and I'll be honest, it's easy to let it become just another day. Grab a card at the grocery store, maybe some chocolates, and call it good.
But here's the thing. When's the last time you actually did something together? Not just sat next to each other scrolling your phones, but really showed up for each other?
It doesn't have to be fancy. Take a walk downtown. Go ice skating at Titletown and laugh at how bad you both are at it. Bring the kids tubing and watch their faces light up. Sit across from each other at dinner and actually talk.
This weekend, put the phone down. Be present. Whether it's a date night or a family adventure, make it count. I think I've attached a few good things happening over the rest of the week.

👏 De Pere Launches Youth Commission for Local Teens
De Pere city leaders are turning years of conversation into action with the launch of a brand new Youth Commission.
The commission will give students ages 14 to 18 the opportunity to serve as an advisory body to the City Council. Up to 15 students will be appointed to one-year terms.
Mayor Boyd says the group will meet monthly and will include guest speakers, such as department heads and other city officials. The goal is to help students better understand how local government works from the inside out. Students will also have the opportunity to offer recommendations on city initiatives, propose ideas, and weigh in on issues affecting residents. The commission will meet on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 6:30 pm, primarily in the Nicolet Conference Room at City Hall
These voluntary, unpaid positions are open to students who live in De Pere or attend West or East De Pere High Schools
Applications for the 2026 term are due Monday, April 6, 2026
Giving teens a voice in local government? That is how you build strong communities for the long haul. 💚
🐶 Rescue Dogs Helping Kids Grow
First graders at Fort Howard Elementary recently visited Lucky 7 Dog Rescue, where they helped socialize rescued puppies while building their own literacy and social skills.
Students practiced kindness, communication, and confidence through hands-on interaction and even wrote letters to help dogs find forever homes. 💛
Learning with purpose and a few wagging tails? We love to see it.

🔰 🛝 Help Shape De Pere’s New Playground.
The De Pere Parks, Rec and Forestry Department is seeking community input as Carney Park and a new park in the Waterview Heights subdivision prepare for new playground equipment.
Residents can review equipment options and vote in the links below on their favorites through the official links shared by the department. This is your chance to help decide what local kids will be climbing, sliding, and swinging on for years to come.
🚀 Amanda’s House Expanding to Meet Growing Need
Amanda’s House opened in 2022 inside a former church in Green Bay. The sober living home currently has capacity for up to 10 women, including some of their children.
With a waitlist of about 40 women and room to expand into additional space, Amanda’s House has launched a $2.5 million campaign to double its capacity.
The expansion would allow more women and families to access stable, supportive housing as they work toward recovery.

🏗 Allouez Plans 100 Unit Apartment and Retail Development
A major redevelopment project is taking shape in Allouez.
Village leaders are moving forward with plans for a mixed-use development at the corner of Webster Avenue and St. Joseph Street that would transform a former strip mall site into a vibrant residential and retail space.
The proposal includes approximately 100 apartment units, featuring a mix of studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom layouts. The building would stand three stories along Webster Avenue and four stories along St. Joseph Street. Plans also include shared amenities, such as fitness areas, common gathering spaces, outdoor patios, and fire pits, to encourage community connection.
Construction is expected to begin this spring, with completion targeted for summer 2027.
From vacant property to community hub, this is the kind of thoughtful development shaping the future of Greater Green Bay. 🏡✨
