Hey Neighbors π
Quick heads up before anything else: if you cross the Main Street bridge on your way to work, that stops Monday. Three weeks. Plan your detour now, and you'll be fine. Wait until Monday morning, and you'll be the guy honking at nobody.
Everything else this week is good news. Bears in town, 75 degrees, and about six different ways to put a pumpkin in a kid's hands.
Here's the week.

π π Main Street Bridge Closes for Three Weeks
Starting Monday, Oct 12, the Ray Nitschke Memorial Bridge connecting Dousman and Main over the Fox River shuts down to vehicles and pedestrians through Friday, Oct 30. This is the full-closure phase of the construction that has restricted lanes since July. The posted detour is Broadway, Walnut Street, and Monroe Avenue, and access to downtown homes and businesses stays open. Boaters who need a lift now need two hours' notice, with lifts available 6 AM to 8 PM except Oct 19 to 21. If your morning route runs across Main, give yourself an extra ten minutes next week.
π ποΈ Packers vs. Cancer Turns 10
The Packers and UW Health kicked off the 10th year of Packers vs. Cancer at Lambeau last week, and there's an easy way in: the special-edition Packers vs. Cancer winter hat is at the Pro Shop now, with $5 from every sale going to the UW Health Carbone Cancer Center. You can also round up any Pro Shop purchase with a $1 or more donation through the end of October. Earlier this month, players showed up at the Bay Port vs. West De Pere game to donate to both schools' STING Cancer programs. The full campaign gets recognized at the Cowboys game on Oct. 18.

π§ $15 Million Indoor Adventure Park Breaks Ground in Bellevue
Shovels went in Tuesday on Vertical Point Adventure Park, an 80,000-square-foot indoor play facility going up in the GV corridor near Costco in Bellevue. The $15 million build promises floor-to-ceiling slides and climbing structures, and the owner says this is just "phase one" of what they're building. Target opening is next year. For anyone who's spent a January afternoon circling the same three indoor options with kids, this is the one to watch.

Mortgage rates just did something they haven't done in almost two years. The 30-year fixed averaged 7.28% as of Oct 1 per Freddie Mac, up from 7.03% the week before and 6.34% a year ago. That's the first time above 7% since January 2025, and it's been climbing for five straight weeks. Locally, Green Bay homes are still selling in about 42 days with a median near $293K, so demand hasn't cracked, but every quarter point at these levels shaves real buying power. If you're shopping, start a rate-lock conversation with your lender now. If you're selling, the buyers who are still out there are serious.
