PS: 🏀 Local Basketball Team Looking for Gym Space

Northeast Wisconsin Christian Homeschool Athletic Association (NEWCHAA) is currently looking for gym space to rent for the 25/’26 basketball season.

Ideally, in or around the Green Bay/De Pere area

This group has been based in the Green Bay area for over a decade! This isn’t just your ‘Friday fitness’ version of basketball.

The Eagles are coming off a Division 1 homeschool championship at the Midwest regionals (200+ teams), and also compete with many of our local public school programs.

If you know of a church, rec center, or facility that might have open gym time, we’d love to connect.

📰New Stories of the Week in Green Bay

📌🚧 Big News: $29M Sewer Renewal Project Breaks Ground Downtown

NEW Water has launched a $29 million renewal of Green Bay’s sewer interceptor system, some of which dates back to the 1930s.

This massive infrastructure project will:
✔ Rehabilitate 13,000 feet of sanitary sewer
✔ Extend the system’s life for future generations
✔ Improve wastewater reliability for over 239,000 residents

📍 Impacts include road closures (starting with N. Baird St.), trail detours, and temporary construction zones downtown and into Allouez.
📅 Construction is underway now and is expected to continue through late 2026.

No charges for property owners, the project is funded through NEW Water’s municipal rates and the Clean Water State Revolving Fund.

📌👷‍♀️ Big News: ‘She Builds Wisconsin’ Empowers Local Girls in Construction

Middle school girls across Wisconsin picked up drills, hammers, and welding torches at the recent ‘She Builds Wisconsin’ summer camp, a hands-on program designed to inspire young women to explore careers in the construction trades.

🛠️ Hosted by Northeast WI Building & Construction Trades Council
📍 Camp held at NWTC’s Green Bay campus
👷‍♀️ Students tried real trade work: carpentry, sheet metal, concrete, welding & more
🌟 Designed to address Wisconsin’s skilled labor shortage while boosting female representation in the field

More than just a camp, this is a movement to build confidence and the future workforce.
